When Jason Kassis of Peoria came across a copper plate filled with different imprints of ducks while cleaning out an old building, he wasn't sure what he had.

For all Kassis knew, the plate could have been for various special postage stamps depicting ducks and possibly quite valuable. That's why he held on to it for about 20 years, taking it with him any time he moved.

CCT's musical "My Son Pinoccio" opens Thursday at Players

For more than 50 years the Peoria Park District has given children ages 8 to 18 the chance to learn about theatre while keeping audiences entertained through song and dance.

They do it again this week when the Children's Community Theatre presents "Disney's My Son Pinocchio: Geppettto's Musical Tale" at Peoria Players Theatre. The show opens Thursday with a 7 p.m. curtain, followed by a 7 p.m. show on Friday, with 1:30 p.m....

Simon named president, CEO at Methodist

Debbie Simon had the "interim" tag removed from her title on Monday.

Simon was appointed president and CEO of Methodist Medical Center after serving as interim president and CEO since July, when Michael Bryant, who was in the position for 12 years, left to take a position in Virginia. Methodist Health Services Corp., parent of Methodist Medical Center, made the announcement.

Leitch presented with Tom Connor Award

David Leitch was presented the 2011 Tom Connor Award for Volunteer Community Service on Friday.

Leitch, who is state representative from the 73rd District, was presented the award during the 36th Annual Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce Community Thanksgiving Luncheon. More than 600 attended the event at the Embassy Suites and Riverfront Conference Center in East Peoria.

Cat maintains dividend, reaffirms outlook

Caterpillar Inc. will maintain its quarterly cash dividend of 46 cents a share for the fourth quarter, the company announced Wednesday after a vote buy its board of directors.

The dividend will be payable Feb. 18, 2012 to stockholders of record at the close of business on Jan. 20, 2012.

Further, the company said Wednesday it has reaffirmed its preliminary outlook for 2012, which was first stated at the end of the third quarter....
