Roelfs named general manager at Transit District

Doug Roelfs will be the new General Manager of Greater Peoria Mass Transit District (CityLink), effective Feb. 1.
Roelfs has been the Assistant General Manager of Operations for CityLink since Nov. 1, 2016, and has been serving as interim General Manager since former CityLink General Manager Al Stanek, retired at the end of 2016.
The GPMTD Board of Trustees will officially vote on Roelfs appointment as general manager at the board meeting on Monday, Feb. 13.
As general manager, Roelfs will lead the First Transit Inc. team that manages CityLink’s public transportation services for the greater Peoria area, including Peoria, West Peoria, Peoria Heights, East Peoria and Pekin.
Roelfs began his career working for the City of Mediapolis, Iowa in the Public Works Department. He advanced to public works supervisor while there over a period of 24 years.
Roelfs moved to the public transportation industry in 2006 when he became the transit director at Southeast Iowa Regional Planning Commission (SEIBUS) in Burlington, Iowa. He also was the Transit Manager/Public Works Technician for the City of Burlington from 2009 to 2013.
Roelfs joined First Transit Inc. in 2013 and his career there has taken him to several locations. He has served as the General Manager of CitiBus in Davenport, Iowa; Assistant General Manager of Operations for the Berkshire Regional Transit Authority in Berkshire, Massachusetts; and he has provided assistance for transit agencies in Jackson, Tennessee; Greenfield, Massachusetts and Denton, Texas.
