Hey Peoria! How's it going? Things are really good over here at the Peorian. As you can probably tell, we are re-launching our website which we first unleashed on the populace in September 2011.

Oh, how we've grown and changed in that first year-and-a-half. For one thing, we are officially toddlers now which means we are starting to realize we are completely separate people from you. Sure, we'll have abandonment issue for awhile but that too shall pass.

So, what's new other than the layout and our growth as burgeoning human beings? Well, we now have more writers (more than a dozen; how crazy is that?), which means we now have a lot more voices covering a wider range of topics from local history, news and sports to arts, entertainment and American culture at large.

Now, we're not like some type of online newspaper trolling for the latest grim local story. We are merely a simple online magazine with our own unique voice and style extolling the virtues of Peoria. That doesn't mean we won't be critical; we're just going to take the high road.

Right now, not every section is up. After all, we are only 17 months old, which means we are just starting to understand language and grasp abstract concepts. But we'll be adding more and more in the days and weeks to come, including a weekly podcast, lots of videos and (hopefully) lots of interesting stories from our cadre of faithful writer-folk.

So stay tuned to us, Peoria, because we are staying tuned to you.

About the Author
A Juilliard-trained writer, Kevin Kizer has fought against numerous world-champion writers during his career, besting the reigning middle weight writing champion in an exhibition bout in Helsinki in 1976. He also played a crucial role on the U.S. gold-medal winning writing team during the 1984 Pan-Am games, where he came off the bench in dramatic fashion to write the winning prepositional phrase just as time expired.
