'Meet Me In St. Louis' set to open at Peoria Players

For Mary Ellen Ulrich, the musical "Meet Me in St. Louis" takes her back to a simpler time, such as her childhood.

Even though she wasn't yet alive when the play takes place, in fact was decades from being born, it still made her think of her childhood home, on Oak Street in Quincy. So when she designed the set for the show, which opens Friday at Peoria Players Theatre, she let her memory guide her — right down to the stained glass window...

Carter, a native of Decatur, IL and a graduate of Millikin University, was at one time a weatherman on Peoria local TV. He later became better known by his alter ego, a creepy TV ghoul named "Sammy Terry".

Symphony to feature 'Yin and Yang' concert

Charles Yang will have the bright and positive side of the equation covered when he brings his considerable talents to the Peoria Civic Center on Saturday as guest artist for the Peoria Symphony Orchestra.

Locally written ballet to make world premiere at Five Points

A new ballet featuring a score and choreography written by local artists will be performed this weekend in the Caterpillar Theatre at Five Points in Washington.

Local actor living a dream on stage

When he steps onto the Peoria Civic Center Theatre stage on Saturday, Eddie Urish figures he will finally realize the feeling he's thought about for nearly 30 years — to have people he knows watching him perform professionally in his home town.
