Alzheimer's Association seeks ambassador in 17th District

 The Alzheimer's Association is looking for a community member to represent the Central Illinois Chapter as a volunteer ambassador for the 17th Congressional District, the association said.

The ambassador must be someone interested in the disease, public policy and advocacy as well as live in the 17th District now represented by Republican Bobbt Schilling and, starting in January, by Democrat Cheri Bustos.

The 17th Congressional District includes the southern half of Peoria County; portions of Tazewell County; and Fulton, Knox, Warren; and Henry counties.

"The position calls for a level of commitment and dedication, but no pre-existing political relationships are required," the association said in a news release.

The Ambassador will develop and cultivate a relationship with the 17th District representative and their staff, acting as a constituent leader on Alzheimer's disease. Once the Ambassador has been trained by national advocacy staff, he or she will participate in monthly teleconferences with national staff and fellow Ambassadors across the country. He or she also will visit with the 17th District reprsentative at least four times a year in the district, and once at the annual Advocacy Forum in Washington, D.C.
