Poetry
Forever
by Anne Peterson
Wasn’t it just yesterday,
they placed you in my arms
and silently you slipped into my heart?
I’d sit and stare for hours
at all your little features
and marveled at each precious little part.
But time continued moving,
and you continued growing
until one day you stood so very tall.
Soon I was looking up to you,
adult in every way
except one way you haven’t changed at all,
You’ll always be my child
regardless of your age
and I will always think of that first day
They placed you in my waiting arms
you slipped into my heart;
a place I know forever you will stay
.
