Simmons named new principal at Notre Dame

Randy Simmons, with 35 years experience as an educator that includes leadership positions, was officially named the new principal at Peoria Notre Dame High School. He has been assistant principal the past year.

Simmons, who retired from Peoria School District 150 before coming to Notre Dame, had been principal of Peoria High School and Von Steuben Middle School. At Notre Dame he replaces Charlie Roy, who resigned to take the position of president at a high school in California.

Simmons is a Peoria native and has both his bachelor of science and master of science degrees from Bradley University.

“This is a dream job.  As a Catholic, I am now able to lend my experience to one of the very best schools, not only in Peoria, but in the entire state of Illinois,” Simmons said.

Last year Notre Dame had the highest ACT scores of any school in the immediate area, and sent one hundred percent of its 194 graduates on to college. 

The school also named Dr. Susie Cicciarelli and Sister Margaret Schulz, CSJ, as assistant principals.  Tim Speck continues in his position as dean of students. 

Simmons said he feels confident Notre Dame will continue its forward vision to instill in its students strong moral character and values and to excel academically. He said he feels the school will only get better in the next few years as it focuses on the innovative academic programs that will allow students to perform at their very best.
