The elaborate Victorian
grandstand, large amphitheater,
ornate horse barns and numerous
support buildings could
accommodate the expected
crowds with ease. More than
200
manufacturers and dealers
applied to exhibit at the fair,
where all space was rent free.
National Threshermen’s Review
wrote in July 1914, “because it
really is a national implement
and vehicle show, it is not classed
by manufacturers with state fairs,
for the show is a dealers fair. It
will be the banner show of farm
machinery and implements of
the season. Tractor and plowing
contests and demonstrations will
take place daily on the infield of
the race course. No effort by the
Peoria management is going to
be spared to make this the most
satisfactory machinery exhibit of
the season.”
