Easter Egg Hunt at Wildlife Prairie State Park

Saturday, April 07, 2012

Wildlife Prairie State Park invites you to bring your friends and family to the Park for a fun-filled day on Saturday, April 7, 2012.  Meet the Easter Bunny during a kid-friendly breakfast and then take to the fields of the Pioneer Area to collect your share of 12,000 candy-filled and prize-filled eggs during our famous Easter Egg Hunts.   An Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt has also been added to this year’s activities!

Get a great start to your day with a delicious buffet breakfast before the festivities begin.  The buffet selection is kid-friendly so even the pickiest of eaters are sure to get some energy before the Egg Hunts begin.  Breakfast will be served in Prairie Hall from 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.  Bring your camera as the Easter Bunny, joined by Bill the Bear and Gertie the Groundhog, will be available for photo opportunities at breakfast and throughout the day.

The Easter Egg Hunts will be broadcast live by WXCL FM 104.9 "The Wolf" in the Pioneer Area and will start promptly at 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.  Join Wolfie, the Easter Bunny, Bill the Bear, and Gertie the Groundhog, for entertainment and music as they help announce the countdown to collecting over 12,000 brightly-colored eggs.  This annual spring tradition offers tons of fun as well as a great opportunity to shoot exciting video or photos for cherished family memories.  The Hunts are designed for children ages 12 and younger and are divided into three age groups; 0-2, 3-6 and 7-12.  Don't forget to bring your camera and an Easter Basket.  In case of rain, the Egg Hunts will be held inside the Hespell Deck.

The EGG-stravaganza continues when you participate in the Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt.  Kids will go on an expedition that will take them all over the Park from the train to the Snakes n'More Exhibit!  Those who identify all the Giant Easter Eggs can turn their completed list to the Visitors Center and be entered in a contest to win a Giant Easter Basket filled with wonderful spring surprises!

Be sure to visit Forest Hall as the Education Department presents "Animals That Come From Eggs".  There will be a public feeding of our wolves with, "Bones to Wolves,” the "Zoo Lady" returns to offer face painting at the Visitors Center area and don’t forget to take a train ride with special guests, Bill the Bear and Gertie the Groundhog!  Make sure you also explore the trails at the Park, visit our Pioneer Farmyard animals and shop at our Adventure Store.
