Vivid colors, shiny beads, a melange of acts and lots of fun... It's Peoria's own MS Carnivale, scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday, March 16, at the Par-A-Dice Hotel, 7 Blackjack Boulevard in East Peoria. The 10th annual MS Carnivale Mardi Gras celebration aims to educate, entertain, and fundraise for the Greater Illinois Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. More than 600 guests are expected to join in the revelry and savor the flair of a New Orleans celebration, which will include musicians, entertainers, a raffle, a popular silent auction and French Quarter-style fare. JammSammich will perform. In 2011, the Carnivale raised more than $100,000 to support research, programs and services that will benefit the more than 20,000 people affected by MS in Illinois. Tickets are $100 each, of which half is tax deductible. |
